Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Words Duel ("we", "us") collects when you use the site at wordsduel.com, and how we use it.
What we collect
- Account info. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture URL from that provider. If you sign up with a username + PIN instead, we store the username and a hashed version of your PIN.
- Gameplay data. Game results, guesses, win/loss/tie counts, and daily play history are stored so we can show your stats and the leaderboard.
- Connection data. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) for security and rate limiting. These are not used to build a profile of you.
What we don't collect
- We don't sell your data.
- We don't run third-party advertising trackers.
- We don't access your contacts, calendar, or other Google services beyond the basic profile info needed to sign you in.
How we use it
- To create and maintain your account.
- To run games, record results, and display leaderboards.
- To detect abuse, debug issues, and keep the service running.
Where it's stored
Account and gameplay data is stored in Supabase (a hosted Postgres database). Sign-in is handled by Supabase Auth. The service is hosted on Render.com. These providers process data on our behalf.
Your choices
- Change your name: use the "Change Name" button in-app.
- Delete your account: email the address below and we'll remove your account and gameplay records.
- Revoke Google/Facebook access: you can disconnect the app from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions or your Facebook settings.
Cookies
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. No third-party advertising or analytics cookies are set.
Children
Words Duel is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
